About the artist
Andrew Jay Rumpler designs and builds one-of-a-kind works under the studio name, Nine Stories Co. In this practice, emphasis is placed on the development of systems for the recycling of discarded materials, the inventive use of non-rarified materials, and mergers of the two. The work seeks to question contemporary notions of worth towards a more sustainable maker/consumer future. In Walked Bud - A small object in the form of a table consisting of seven found piano keys, bits of glass fused but not entirely so, some old paint; the object is precarious, possibly unsteady. Composed in 1947, In Walked Bud is Thelonious Monk's Homage to friend and fellow pianist/composer Bud Powell.
