About the artist
Born in Hollywood, now based in Providence, Jack Kemper makes objects as a kind of performance of production. His work explores material alienation, logical fallacy, and existential dread, drawing on a wide range of fabrication processes to address these themes, from machining to vinyl wrapping to flocking to injection molding. Jack is very concerned with the way we address our existential problems as both producers and consumers, seeking a kind of self-awareness that only comes through a third space, living honestly in complicity with an ever-more complex industrial system, thinking critically without choosing this or that.
