About the artist
Miles Gracey (b. 1987) uses sculptural furniture to explore and expand upon narratives within domestic spaces, be they rooted in fact or fiction. His work utilizes ornamentation, decoration, craft, and other modes of expression rooted in premodern traditions. Growing up in a small coastal town in California, Gracey’s world view is through the lens of the sea. Themes of shelter, femininity, nature, and personal narrative flow through his work; and, coupled with his love of mythology, science fiction, and fantasy, inspires forms both extraordinarily crafted and incredibly whimsical —all latent with story.
