About the artist
Born and raised in Brooklyn, artist & ceramicist Devin Wilde was originally trained in architecture atStanford University. Later, he returned to his lifelong passion of sculpture. Devin has earned artist residencies in ceramics and wood at Anderson Ranch Arts Center, Penland School of Craft, and more. In 2023, Devin founded his eponymous design practice, Devin Wilde. His work has been featured in the projects of multiple AD100 and ELLE DECOR A-List interior designers. Devin’s work is carried by Lawson Fenning, Lovehouse, and Spartan Shop. This May at New York Design Week, Devin is debuting Series No. II, a new collection of ceramic furniture.
Referencing his background in architecture, Devin draws inspiration from an eclectic range of styles, namely Postmodernism, Classical, and Art Deco. He explains, “I explore forms that simultaneously convey both ancient and distinctly modern sensibilities. The interplay between shape and shadow is key to my work. The geometric languages I develop are a careful marriage of form & function; they give structure to the pieces, yes, but are primarily mechanisms for creating drama with light.”
