About the artist
Syd Hanna is a 25-year-old furniture and object maker with dual BFAs in Sculpture and Metalsmithing & Jewelry. He is currently pursuing an MFA in 3D Design at Cranbrook Academy of Art. His practice is rooted in material exploration, where process and experimentation guide form and function. Driven by curiosity and an intuitive approach to making, Syds work often begins with rapid material studies. Improvisational, hands-on experiments that spark new possibilities and set the foundation for his finished pieces. With an interest in the emotional and sensory impact of objects, he creates furniture and sculptural forms that celebrate texture, tactility, and transformation.
