About the artist

Hayden Richer is a ceramic artist based in Detroit, Michigan. Her interest lies in the preservation of stark weight, mass, and their sculptural convergence into furniture. Emphasizing opposing ideas of gradual accumulation and weathering, Richer’s work focuses on the mundane and monotonous builds of weight over time - one of quiet, humble, and earnest growth. Methods of stacking convey the timeline of their build and development that have been calcified in a moment. Richer has been a featured artist in New Norm Magazine and with Sight Unseen in both their exhibitions and publications. She has shown consecutively as part of New York Design Week, Detroit Month of Design, at Wasserman Gallery in Detroit, Lake Como Design Festival and Milan Design Week in representation with Movimento Club Gallery. Most recently, Richer showed at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, as part of the Idea House III Curated Exhibition.
