About the artist
Emerging furniture designer and builder based in Harrisburg, PA. He produces Memphis inspired furniture and lighting. Playful concepts with sculptural wood, fluorescent acrylic shapes, hand painted elements and mixed metals. Blending traditional woodworking methods with contemporary themes. Focused on sustainability and building heritage furniture, he utilizes locally harvested Pennsylvania hardwood(s), flame charring, natural oils, dyes, beeswax, non-toxic and traditional furniture finishes. Phil Wells has spent over 15 yrs in hands-on study of carpentry, furniture building & repair and historic preservation of Pennsylvania’s state buildings and museums. He has exhibited work in Philadelphia under the GREENSUN collective (DIY SolarWind Machine) Asian Arts Initiative, EcOsYsTeMs 2023. Design Within Reach, Annual Champagne Chair Challenge (Finalist - Most Original) NYC 2024.
